Venice, Italy- Me and My Nikon D700- Lots of Gelato
After shooting in Helsinki, Finland, I made my first trip to Italy. Venice... Wow. Anyone who knows me knows I live to eat. I don't eat to live. Anyway, for the first time in quite a while, I was able to make some pictures for myself. What better place than Venice Italy???? The Nikkor 24-70 barely left my side. This lens on the new full frame D700 was tremendous. This camera doesn't miss. It's not the bear that the D3 is, so my arthritis thanks Nikon for this great new tool. I was truly surprised by how much camera this really is. Here are a few images from my brief stay in Venice, Italy. I'd also love to give a shout out to the amazing staff at Luna Hotel Baglioni- one of AAA's leading Hotels of the World. They were outstading. I hope you enjoy some of these.
As always, please feel free to leave your comments!

The d700 is on my list for purchase next year. On Sat. I shoot a trash the dress session at your favorite location "Eastern State". Hope you have fun in Europe. When you get back, I'd love to grab some lunch to find out how you got to be the best wedding photographer in the East Coast.

Wow! Thanks for sharing your impressions of several great parts of Euorpe... I'm looking at the D3 or D700 later this year too, and am very keen to read your impressions of the D700. Actually I'm also eagerly awaiting your review as even though the photos are stunning I suspect you could go out with a $99 point and shoot and still take fabulous photos!

As usual, very interesting shots!
Although I definitely will get a D700 body next year I'm waiting your review of that awesome camera!
I guess I'll put no more stress on my fat D3 because of its little brother, especially for travel/personal/daily use.
Thanks for sharing, keep the great work !

Cliff: When I "grow up," I want to be just like you! Those shots are exquisite. Like many others, the D700 is on my wish list, along with my first trip to Italy. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Aahh, Venice is a photographer's dream. The patina, the history, the canals, the fog, the light! That 1st image is my favorite. Glad I skipped the D3 (man, that shutter is LOUD!), have the same D700 combo you've used here. It came out just in time for my dark winter weddings just around the corner.

The pictures are gorgeous. My girlfriend and I are about to take up photography for the first time and we really want to do it well, so we are going to be buying a D700 or a 5D Mark II. The 5D has almost twice the megapixels, HD video, and seems more advanced, but I've searched and searched on the internet and I can't find any pictures taken with it that I consider as vivid and beautiful as the D700's, even though many of the 5D pics look sharper. If it is actually the case that the 5D is sharper, and you can blow up the pics larger, but you can't get the same vivid and beautiful colors and highlights, then I'd have to go with the D700.
Which of these cameras do you prefer?

A nice view on Venice. All I need now is a couple who engages me for a wedding photo session in Venice...

Wow. I am speechless. Those are by far some of the most fantastic shots of Venice I have ever seen. They are so unique and captivating! Congratulations on your D700 and the 24-70! I just got one myself a couple of weeks ago and am loving the combination. I look forward to exploring your site some more.
