Nikon Proudly Presents -The One and Only Bill Eppridge- 50 Years of Photojournalism-at PhotoPlus Expo NYC
For those who may be attending PhotoPlus Expo in New York City on October 23th-25th, I strongly urge you to attend a very special event. Join host Peter Arnett, a pulitzer prize winning journalist, as he sits with photojournalist Bill Eppridge to discuss Bill’s storied career that has spanned more than five decades, including Bill’s images of the Beatles’ first momentous visit to the United States to one of the decade’s most poignant and iconic photographs: a stunned Los Angeles busboy cradling Robert Kennedy in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel, just seconds after he was shot.
As a photojournalist, Bill Eppridge has covered a remarkable assortment of stories for renowned national publications such as National Geographic, LIFE magazine and Sports Illustrated. His body of work will surely blow you away.
This event will take place at the PDN theatre on Friday October 24th from 4:00-4:45. Attendence will be limited to the first 300 people. Don't miss this. I'll be there and look forward to seeing you. Please say hello!

I knew Bill from his visiting the University of Missouri j-school's photo program many times. He's a graduate of the school from the 50s, when Cliff Edom was in charge (or was it Vi?). I remember him telling us how he used to shoot Missouri Football with a Speed Graphic. He'd shoot several sheets of film and then go into the darkroom - which had a dirt floor - to process and print his film! Imagine the spotting! Not to mention the need to get the shot in so few frames!
What I remember most, though, is his story about how LIFE magazine lost the negative of his most famous photo of JFK dying. He had one big print of the image he kept at his mother's house. It was his only original print, and it was stored behind her couch. When a fire burned her house down, he thought the worst, but in the aftermath they discovered the print had survived relatively intact, considering.
