I know, I know, two blog posts in less than 24 hours. Hell will now freeze over. I've fallen behind, but I'm vowing to try and keep up with my blog in '09... hopefully.
Anyway... Over the past several years, I've had the good fortune of shooting weddings on New Year's Eve! These weddings are always full of energy and this one was no exception. Amanda and John were a blast to shoot and I'm grateful to have spent NYE with them.
They held everything at The Union League of Philadelphia, where the staff did their usual impeccable job. Amanda and John were not deterred by the frigid weather, and we spent a few minutes cruising around the City Hall area trying to find a bit of light on a very cold and grey afternoon. This was a blast and they had a wonderful chemistry together. Here's a few from their day.
It's a tremendous honor to have been asked to donate my time in Las Vegas in order to raise money for Thirst Relief. This is the 3rd annual Thirst Relief Mentor Benefit auction. I'll be donating 90 minutes of time to whoever is kind enough to purchase this time. The money goes directly into saving lives. Last year, this organization raised over $37,000 to benefit Thirst Relief. This organization is committed to providing drinking water to people in over 4 different continents.
If you decide to do this, I'll not only have a one on one lunch, but I'll also give a 30 minute telephone mentor session once a month for the next 3 months following the WPPI convention. The topic can be anything you'd like. I'm a lighting and skills guy, so perhaps this can benefit anyone who's working on those things. Kudos to all of my colleagues who are donating their time for this amazing cause. I'm proud to be involved.
For all photographers who read this blog, I'd like to encourage you to enter the Wedcomp Photo Competition. I've had the pleasure of judging many photo contests over the past few years. It's going to be a blast to judge Wedcomp's photo competition in a few days. The deadline for entries is approaching in two days. It's an honor to be judging with my friends Rachel Lacour Nieson, Jenn Bebb, and Zack Arias. If the past competitions are any indication, it should be a great contest. The information you'll need is above.
It's such an honor to appear on Scott Sheppard's Inside Digital Photo radio show. This was my second appearance and Scott does a terrific job of interviewing his guests. He really researches what's relevant to his guests, and this allows the interview to flow in a comfortable and interesting way. Scott attends nearly every industry event and really knows his stuff. Scott and I touch upon a wide array of topics that include WPPI, the state of the industry itself, my bootcamp(shameless promotion) and Nikon's commitment to image quality. Thanks to Scott, it's a damn good interview and I hope you give a listen. He makes me sound like I almost know what I'm talking about. If you're going to WPPI, you'll find Scott all over the place covering every aspect of the convention.
Special thanks to Alexandra Gebhardt, the producer for the show, for all of her help in making this happen. Bookmark Inside Digital Photo and make it a regular part of your photo education. He always has guests who are truly on the cutting edge in the industry.
I hope you enjoy the interview. Please feel free to leave comments and I'll do my best to respond.
